Berger, Victor (Louis)
(28 feb. 1860, Nieder-Rehbach, Austria-Hungría–7 ago. 1929, Milwaukee, Wis., EE.UU.).

Cofundador del Partido Socialista de EE.UU. Inmigró a este país desde Austria-Hungría en 1878, fundó un periódico en alemán en 1892 y dirigió el Social Democratic Herald (más adelante Milwaukee Leader) entre 1898 y 1929. Junto con Eugene V. Debs, fundó el Partido Social Demócrata que, en 1901, se convirtió en el Partido Socialista. Fue miembro de la Cámara de Representantes (1911–13) como el primer socialista elegido parlamentario. Reelegido en 1918, se le denegó su escaño luego de ser condenado, en virtud de la ley de espionaje, por oponerse a la participación de EE.UU. en la primera guerra mundial. Al anularse la condena, nuevamente accedió a la Cámara (1923–29) y sucedió a Debs como presidente del Partido Socialista (1927–29).
